LIGHTNING BOLT FATAL TO YOUTH
Charles Floyd Bryant is Victim of Storm - Burial Today
Struck by a lightning bolt when he was hurrying to shelter along with four companions, Charles Floyd Bryant, 18-year-old youth of the Rose Hill community, this county, was instantly killed about 2:30 pm Monday.
The youth was employed by Carl Civills, operator of a mill in Christian county, Ky., and as the storm approached, he and his fellow workers started for shelter. Bryant was a few steps behind the others when the bolt him on the top of his head. His hat was torn and the lightning raced down his right side, indicating his right foot was touching the ground when the bolt came. His body was not badly burned, however. The companions were felled by the bolt, but not seriously injured.
Funeral services were conducted at the grave in the family cemetery this afternoon by the Rev F. P. Taylor and pallbearers were Curtis j Smith, Mitchell Smith, Merritt Bryant, Lewis Payne, Ralph Payne and John Howard Payne.
Young Bryant was the son of Lee and Mrs. Flossie Shreder Bryant, who survive, along with five brothers, Doris, Clarence, Bracey, William D., and Gerald Bryant, and four sisters, Nellie Janie Ruth, Susie and Iris Bryant, all of Rose Hill community. The youth was horn in Rose Hill community and spent his entire life in that section. He leaves many friends who mourn his untimely death.
