- [S4255] Legacy: Obituary of Lisa Gregerson • 2016, (Name: East Bay Times; Location: Walnut Creek, California; Date: 1 Sep 2016;), Newspaper: Legacy; Web edition: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/eastbaytimes/obituary.aspx?n=lisa-gregerson&pid=181240431.
Lisa Claire Gregerson was born July 19, 1959 in Coos Bay, Oregon and died August 27, 2016 in Pleasant Hill, California. Her immediate family was by her side when she surrendered to lung cancer at age 57.
Lisa grew up on a small ranch in the high desert of Central Oregon where she enjoyed the outdoors, horseback riding, tending to her animals, and playing with her siblings and neighbors far and wide. She moved to a small village in Northern Wisconsin in her teens where she became a cheerleader, singer, and thespian at Frederick High School. Upon graduation in 1977, Lisa moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue an education in Fine Art. She graduated from Diablo Valley College.
Lisa had a passion for drawing and painting. She drew inspiration for her art from her family, her friends and her unrelenting love of nature and animals.
Lisa is survived by her daughters, Courtney and Julie, for whom she was dedicated to, and they in turn loved and cared for their Mom during much of her 40-year struggle with mental illness. She is also survived by her mother, Sue, and sister, Pam, of Bend, Oregon, and her brother, Dan, of Charlotte, North Carolina. Lisa remained close to her former husband, Mark Campbell, throughout her life and she lived to see their daughter, Julie, marry Andrew and give birth to a granddaughter, Mackenzie. Lisa and Mark also welcomed Courtney's spouse, Justin, into the family. Lisa's father, Don, passed away in 1964 at age 39. Though she was only five years old at the time, she had vivid memories of their time together.
Lisa's essence was kind, fun-loving, and mischievous — traits she shared with her lifelong best friend and cousin, "Julie."
The family will receive relatives and friends at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, at 4000 Clayton Rd. Concord, California at 4:00 pm on September 2, 2016 for a funeral service conducted by the Reverend Jeremy Serrano. A potluck dinner and celebration of life will immediately follow in the church's Fellowship Hall. Disposition will be observed by the family at a later time.
Lisa had great empathy for people because of the burdens she carried while making her way. For those who are able, a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would have made her happy.
