He was born in Berkley Co., Virginia, July 4, 1770, removing to Pennsylvania in 1774, to Kentucky in 1784. Was in General Wayne's or General Harmer's Army at his defeat; was a spy under Wayne and was in the Battle of Fallen Timbers, Aug. 21, 1794 when the Indians were defeated. Died in Clark Co., Kentucky Sept. 30, 1843. The inscription from the tombstone of General Lucas Hood was copied many years before this book was written.
