Julie A. (Bastie) Bonia, 77, of Brockton, died Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Medford Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a period of failing health. She was the wife of Edward A. Bonia Sr. Born in Boston, a daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (Lesieur) Bastie, she was raised in Dorchester and attended Cathedral High School. Devoted to family, Julie was an active volunteer with the Brockton area Cub Scouts when her children were young. She enjoyed making various crafts and cooking. In addition to her husband she is survived by four children, Edward A. Bonia Jr. and his wife Lynne of Va., William R. Bonia of Bridgewater, Michael C. Bonia and his wife Donna of Easton and Kenneth C. Bonia of Carver; a sister, Katherine Frongillo of Tewksbury; and five grandchildren, Thomas Bonia, Brian Bonia, Kasey Bonia, Rachel Bonia and Amanda Trenis, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Evelyn Banks, William Bastie and Joseph Bastie. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday from 4 - 6:30 p.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138), Easton, followed by a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julies memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society

Edward Bonia, 84, of Easton, formerly of Brockton passed away on December 12, 2021 at West Acres Nursing Home after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Julie (Bastie) Bonia.
Born in Boston, a son of Maurice and Retha (Gott) Bonia, he was raised in Boston and was a graduate of Boston Trade School and served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.
Edward was employed as a stock worker for Hendrie's Ice Cream of Milton for over 30 years.
Edward was active with Brockton youth sports where he was a coach for Brockton Baseball and Basketball. He was an avid sports enthusiast.
Edward is survived by his children Edward A. Bonia Jr. of Virginia, William R. Bonia of Bridgewater, Michael C. Bonia and his wife Donna of Easton and Kenneth C. Bonia of Carver; a sister, Frances Donahue of Florida; 5 grandchildren, Thomas Bonia, Brian Bonia, Kasey Bonia, Rachel Bonia and Amanda Trenis; and a great grandchild, James Michael Bonia; he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home.
