  [S6840] Find a Grave: MASTERS Benjamin F 1833-1886, Benjamin Franklin Masters (Veteran). Benjamin served in the Civil War as a Sergeant in the 9th Alabama Cavalry. He served under Wheeler in the Army of Tennessee. He furnished his own mount as did many others serving in the Confederacy. Benjamin helped organize and build the New Harmony Baptist Church and was a deacon of that church for many years. He also served as the 1st church clerk. His death was a horrible one - as he was returning home through the woods when he and his horse were attacked by a rabid dog. Both the horse and the Benjamin died as a result of these bites.
