Kevin Bonia, 43, of Cambridge, was pronounced dead at Norwood Hospital at 8:15 p.m. Feb. 20, three days after he had been brought to the Norfolk County House of Correction in Dedham, said Sheriff Jack Flood. "It's a tragedy, but he set out to do it," Flood said, adding that Bonia was placed on suicide watch at the request of a judge for the first night of his stay at the facility. But officials lifted the suicide watch after an in-house psychiatric social worker examined Bonia and concluded he was in no danger of hurting himself or other inmates, Flood said. Bonia was facing multiple charges in connection with an assault with a shotgun Feb. 15 on a woman in Wellesley.
