Lt. Thomas Miles, "one of Marion's men, sleeps at his old home place, near Florence, TN." He was born in VA in 1746, enlisted under Gen. Marion and served all through the 7 years of the War of 1776. He settled in Caswell Co., NC and in 1788 married Miss Nancy Patterson. They moved to Tennessee in 1789 when their son Patterson Miles, was 3 years old, and settled in Wilson Co. until 1839 then moved to Rutherford County, TN.
