- [S7580] Find a Grave: HARRELL Deborah Massey 1920-1993, Deborah H "Debbie" Harrell Miller Rice Massey AKA Frankie Miller.
BIRTH 9 Aug 1920 DEATH 13 May 1993 (aged 72) BURIAL Sunset Memory Garden Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana MEMORIAL ID 101301517
DEBORAH HARRELL never married Leland Ross Holliday, but was in an ongoing relationship with him from about 1938 until she shot him in 1950.
She married Harlan Miller in 1942, left him in 1948, and divorced him in 1949. During that time, she went by the name of Frankie Miller. Holliday also divorced his wife about 1949. On 19 March 1950, Frankie found Holliday with another woman and shot him in a jealous rage. At a sensational trial in Frankfort, Indiana, Frankie testified that Holliday had tortured her, and showed the all-male jury where he had burned her with his cigarette. She was convicted of Manslaughter and was sentenced to the Indiana Women’s Prison for a term of 2-21 years.
After she was pardoned in 1952, she went back to being called Debby and married a man named Rice. She later married Robert Henry Massey, and they were still married when she died on 13 May 1993.
