The information I have about Elizabeth Wallace who was married to William White is what she told her great grandson, Joel Westfall, (son of John Wesley & Elizabeth (Simon) Westfall)as it is written in the book "History Of Ritchie County" by Minnie Lowther. I am not certain where the grave of Elizabeth is but I would guess her children would have buried her near her husband. According to Minnie Lowther's book, Elizabeth was 102 years old and her great grandson, Joel, was seven when she was telling him about the life & death (killed by Indians) of his great grandfather who was her husband, William White. As her only child, Elizabeth, was born around 1780-1785 and her great grandson, Joel, was born in 1819, I am thinking there was some confusion about her age at the time she was telling the story to Joel. It is true she lived to be over 102 but I am thinking she was more like seventy to eighty yars old when she was telling him the story. This would place her birthdate somewhere around 1745-1755 which is much more in line with child bearing years. She said there were three White brothers that came to America from Scotland, William, David, & Jonathan. Jonathan went south and was never heard of again. William & David settled near Winchester, Virginia. The story is too long to tell here but she relates that her husband breathed his last just as the boat his rescuers had put him in reached the fort. In the book "Border Settlers of North Western Virginia" it calls him Captain Willam White, who came from Cedar Creek, Frederick County, Virginia & that the only positive thing known about his ancestry is that he was descended from Dr. White of Frederick County who was the ancestor of the White family in that region. It states that Major John White and Major Robert White, also of Frederick County, were prominent in the defense of the border and from the best information to be had, were of the same family. This book also states that it is not known how Captain White came by his military title but that he bore it in 1768 and was ever after distinguished by it.
