Our Family's Journey Through Time
Memorial-FUTRELL Shadrach
Shadrach Futrell Marker - Donaldson, Trigg Kentucky ~ PIONEER SHADRACK FUTRELL This Historic Landmark is located on the Homestead of Shadrack Futrell. Shadrack (1770-1818) his wife, Charlotte Johnson (1771-1817) his mother, Sarah (Bittle) Futrell (1745-1817) and other family members are believed to be buried on this farm. Since the graves were unmarked, the exact site is unknown. Around 1800 several members of the Futrell family made the arduous trek here from Northampton NC. This property was acquired through a land grant and settled by Shadrack and his family. It was their home until Shadrack and Charlotte's death around 1818, leaving 10 children, many of whom were very young. Shadrack was a farmer, mechanic/blacksmith and distiller of quality whiskey and was instrumental in settling the Donaldson Creek Area. Many of his descendants still live in KY and TN.
